A thought as 2011 nears its end…

As 2011 draws to a close I am reminded of the life of Mohandas K. Gandhi. His recorded sayings are filled with wisdom. One comes to mind  - “We need to be the change we wish to see in the world.” Another - “An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.”  On language, he said: “Our languages are the reflection of ourselves.”

Gandhi was a messenger of peace  and those who have knowledge of this gentleman of action will acknowledge that his message transcends both time and language, revealing a most significant life.

For all the words spoken by Mohandas K. Gandhi, his enduring legacy consists of the actions he took throughout his life. Once, a journalist asked him to sum up his message. His response:  “My life is my message.”

As 2011 ends and 2012 dawns upon us there is much those of us who work within or who are associated with the public service of our individual nations can learn from the life of Mohandas K. Gandhi.

Happy New Year everyone!
